The MissionTo build a global micro-reward system on top of the IOTA protocol which incentivises activities positively affecting the environment.

Our Vision : To cooperate and collaborate with organizations working for environmental protection around the world and thereby bring about sustainable positive changes in the earth’s environment.

The environment we rely on must be protected. Food, water, and air pollution threatens to damage our way of life. The destruction of our natural resources is accelerating and climate change is heating up in spite of individual and government action. The sum total of all human activities is becoming detrimental to the environment. Ecologie seeks to alleviate these problems by offering micro rewards to anyone that is willing to take action.

ECOLOGIE.ioWe put the environment first.

The mission of is to incentivize activities positively affecting the environment.

But how will the rewarding mechanism decide which activities are positive to the environment and which are not?

This problem can be solved in two different ways.

1. By empowering Ideas which are already validated by a trustworthy system.

Imagine a small town has to implement a waste management plan. But the people in the town may not always comply because they simply do not see any incentive in complying. What if provides the town administration with a platform which they can easily integrate into their system? This platform will make it possible for the town administration to make very small rewards in IOTA to the people who comply. In this situation, people are incentivised to perform an action which the implementing organization feels to be positive to the environment.

This widens the applicability of the technology to a wide variety of entities like

  • Organizations
  • Trusted individuals
  • Governments
  • Institutions

This situation can also be thought futuristically in terms of Internet of Things (IoT).
Implementations in this particular scenario can be made automatic and repetitive using chips and sensors making the rewards significant enough to strongly alter human behavior.

2. ‘Wisdom of the Crowd’

a) By utilizing the power of social networking.

Supporters of the initiative will be motivated to post stories of activities they do or ideas they have, which they feel are positive to the environment with a marker like #iota4earth for easy recognition by the system. Supporters of the project on that particular social network can micro-reward the posts they like, using IOTA micro-reward bots which will be integrated by into all major social networks.

b) By building a dedicated platform within the website

This will function using a similar reward-bot mechanism but will be more sophisticated and much more organized, enabling better pooling and ranking of posts. This platform will have the potential to gradually evolve into a melting pot of multitude of bright ideas from all over the world breaking all geopolitical, linguistic, economic and racial barriers which prevent free flow of ideas. Functioning with an inbuilt platform will also help in building a huge community of supporters and volunteers.

In both (a) and (b), the principle of ‘Wisdom of the crowd’ will come into action and the better stories will get rewarded more thereby incentivizing actions behind those stories.

To summarize, IOTA is the only protocol currently available in the distributed ledger technology space which can implemented to reward and thereby incentivise environment friendly actions in the society. The Ecologie Initiative aims to implement this technology through it’s #iota4earth project.

Why use IOTA for micro rewards?

The answer is simple. IOTA is the only feeless cryptocurrency with capability for micro and even nano transactions.

Environmental Preservation

Leading the community to develop new and better ways to protect our planet.

Working together to reach out and build alliances that will shape the future of our Earth.

The GoalWorldwide network. Local impact.

Cryptocurrencies other than IOTA can only be moved by paying a transaction fee. So, when an individual gets a small reward for performing a carbon friendly action, his only option is to sell it. Because him rewarding another person he finds doing another carbon friendly action is out of question because the transaction fee he will have to pay will much likely be higher than the value of the reward itself.

Thus the rewarding will be limited to one layer. Whereas if IOTA is used, the person who gets the reward in IOTA from the organization can again reward another person and so on, all free of cost. Because there is no transaction fee involved. Hence the goodwill shared in the form of a micro reward can propagate multiple layers and percolate into depths of the society where a loyalty program may not reach.

Also, if the person gets IOTA worth .001 dollar, he can reward ten people with IOTA worth .0001 dollar. Such micro/nano transactions are not not feasible with any of the existing blockchains including Ethereum.

One might ask: “what value will a person receive if he gets a reward worth .0001 dollars?

The answer is simple.
In the near future, most of the payments in an economy will be automated and some will be repetitive. For each plastic bottle you recycle, your wallet will receive a very small fraction of a dollar. For every unit elecrticity your solar panel produces , you may again receive a very small fraction of a dollar as an incentive for your environment friendly work.

To sum up, IOTA is the only protocol currently available in the distributed ledger technology space which can implemented to reward and thereby incentivise environment friendly actions in the society.
